Our story

Inclusive Activity Murihiku (iAM) is a Southland based organisation that creates opportunities for Southlanders living with disabilities to take part in physical activity and sport.

We’re best known for the annual iAM Games, a fun-filled two-day event for tamariki and rangatahi aged 5 to 21, but that’s just one part of what we do. We work year-round with local groups to offer accessible activities, and we support schools, families, and clubs to create more inclusive spaces for everyone.

Our Approach
We believe sport and movement should be fun, accessible, and free of pressure. That’s why our events are about giving things a go, connecting with others, and celebrating every small win.

Our Partnerships
We’re proud to work with local organisations like The Y Southland to deliver inclusive programmes and grow awareness around disability inclusion in sport.

Our Commitment
Whether we’re hosting an event or helping others improve accessibility, our goal is always the same: to build a more inclusive Murihiku, where everyone has the chance to get active, feel confident, and be part of something great.

Deliverables

People/Tāngata
Empowering individuals, celebrating diversity.

At iAM, people are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that everyone’s story matters, and we are committed to creating spaces where individuals of all abilities can thrive. Through connection and opportunity, we inspire confidence, nurture independence, and build lasting friendships in sport and recreation.

Partnership/Whakahoahoa
Stronger together—building inclusive communities.

Collaboration is the key to breaking down barriers. iAM partners with local organisations, community groups, and sports bodies to create accessible pathways for people with disabilities. Together, we share knowledge, open doors, and build a culture of inclusion that strengthens our community.

Participation/Whai Wāhitanga
Sport and recreation for all—no exceptions.

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to play, move, and belong. At iAM, our programmes and events are designed to be truly inclusive, making it easy for people of all abilities to participate and thrive. Whether it’s at the iAM Games or local sports initiatives, everyone is welcome, valued, and supported.
